Here we have Vitor Shaolin Ribeiro giving us the low down on the omoplata from guard. There are a few basic things he doesn’t show about finishing, or maintaining the position, so that he can show you the defense. One would be to reach across your opponents back to get a grip and keep him from rolling out. Second, when kicking the legs forward keep the nearside leg straight to prevent them from posturing up. I used to have a habit of figure-fouring my legs until a friend pointed out this small but super helpful detail . For the defense, don’t hesitate. If you feel your self in the position roll before your opponent gets that grip to prevent you.
